I know it depends on where you are travelling, so... let's say I want to travel from the US... say.. North Carolina... to Germany for... two weeks.
Anyone know how much? Or if you have travelled ANYWHERE out of your country, how much did it cost for you? Oh, and any tips? |

You can save money by staying in a hostel rather than a hotel. Or, sometimes there are tours, where you can get a group rate, which is usually cheaper than you would pay on your own. I've found, when travelling in a country with a different type of currency, to make a conversion chart to carry, $1 equals how much, so that you can keep track of what you're spending. If you get off of the beaten path, go to small places a bit away from the touristy places, you will find better bargains, and the food is usually better. Have fun.

my sister and I always go for budget traveling (when my parents are not with us and they don't volunteer to spend for our trips hehehe)... Our best budget trip ever was our trip to Korea last October, we spent just a little over $416for a two weeks stay in Seoul (coming from manila) we didn't pay for the airfare because of the miles we racked up (so getting a mileage plan is always a good idea to save money when your traveling).
Also scour the internet for good prices--- of hotels that is-- plus check blogs and sites for feedbacks on the areas you wish to go--- usually there are even tips on prices and stuff. So key word here is plan in advance, get as much options as you can and just go! :D |

Anywhere in western Europe is expensive, and worse for Americans due to the exchange rate (the US Dollar has been taking a pounding). Go to: http://finance.yahoo.com/currency for the current rates.
You can check airfares, hotel costs, rental cars, etc. online. I factor in another $100 per day per person for meals, sightseeing, and incidentals. Also consider joining SERVAS, which is a global network of travelers & hosts who have passed a background check. It willl give you local contacts almost naywhere you could go, even if you don't choose to be hosted: www.servas.org Hope you have a good trip! |

Flights you should check on the internet and book online. Search at google for cheap tickets.
Traveling Germany and staying at youth hostels, some have kitchens, so you can cook your own meal, doing sightseeing and visiting some museums should be on a budget of about $50 a day, depending how you are going to travel around. I've traveled Germany on that budget (40Euros a day), so it is possible. Get yourself a good guide book, like Lonely Planet or Let's Go, you will have answered every question about budget travels.
