I traveled to Tibet last summer when I was 17 with some students from my high school on a research trip. Lhasa was wonderful! If you can go, do it! I absolutely loved it. I visited in August and the weather was perfect, especially after spending a few days in Chengdu, where the weather was unbearably hot. I don't think I would have gone without an adult, and having a guide is also a must. The locals often do not speak much english, so a guide can help negotitate prices, as well as inform you of local history.
When going, make sure to schedule enough time that you have one or two days to rest in the hotel before doing any major sightseeing. Those first two days are miserable; the high altitude causes headaches and nausea in some people, especially if you fly from a lower altitude as my group did. So just make sure to bring lots of BOTTLED water to fight altitude sickness with.
The two things I would suggest seeing are first, the Potala Palace, the former palace of the Dahli lama, and the second is the local culture. Make sure you get out of your hotel and actually walk around amoung the locals!
Tibet is wonderful; it was the most wonderful experience!
