If you decide to go on a cruise, make sure that it is a singles cruise and try and bring a girlfriend with you. It is definitely not something that you want to do on your own. I went on a cruise with my daughter and it was fun, but I really missed my husband because it was weird being there without him. The cruiseship is really good about introducing you to people who are at the dinner seating with you, but there are a lot of things to do where you won't want to be by yourself. But I must say, it was still a lot of fun. Next time I am bringing my husband for sure!

happy birthday! my brother took his first 4 cruises by himself and had a great time. then finally i asked why he never invited me to come along. he didn't think i was interested. so we got another 3 guys and the 5 of us had a blast. (been on 5 now and ready to book my 6th for feb '09.)

if you don't like to go out and have a few drinks by yourself and meet new people then traveling by yourself for a week may not be the thing to do. i'd personally go myself since i can strike up a conversation with just about anyone.
