travel from san jose to LA and take a cruise?

I would appreciate some information if you have experienced this...

I plan to take a bus from San Jose to LA and take a Mexico Cruise (Carnival CruiseLine) from there.. How do I arrange this? Is any bus stop near the port? How can I find out information?
