YES, you need a passport. You are going to travel to islands that are not the USVirgin Islands. Once you leave those islands and go to Saint Thomas, you are going to need your passport because this is US territory, also, you need it to enter Puerto Rico, another US territory. To travel from PR to NY you don't need the passport. In all caribbean cruises you will visit some islands that maybe you will need the passport to buy things or for id.
