I was arrested and charged in the State of Maine. This was my first offense, over three years ago, and I was never put on probation. I would like to specifically know if I can go to Mexico, but am also curious about how I could go to Canada if need be. Is there anything specific I should do?

Yes you can and no need to look further for info. I just went to Costa Rica and , unfortunatley, I have an OUI as well. However, if you're still on probation, then you will have to notify your PO, but they will have no problem allowing you to go. Sorry..just read your added info...you have no problem...go to Australia if you want!!

If you have a criminal record you will have a problem entering Canada. Drugs, weapons ,violence or sex offences.
We don't want you here. Mexico however do not do background checks but if you break the law there you wont get very much help from your consulate if you have a long record and they will not look favourably upon you. Brenda Martin , for example would have gotten life if she had priors or numerous fraud charges. If you go to Mexico , simply obey the law and you will have a good time. |
