My son's father moved from New Mexico to Missouri. Do I have to pay half of the travel expenses?

Our custody agreement said he gets his son every weekend. He has not seen his son for a few months now. And since he stopped coming to see his son, I moved to Washington State. Is the father responisbe for the travel expenses, since he is the one that moved away?

i don't think so. I don't think so because you are the one moving, right? If you're the one moving, you pay the travel expenses.

Debatably, that would be a good idea. But I would say, that as he moved out, he should pull his weight in payments for you son. Maybe he can pay for the trip back and you pay for the trip back.

You don't have to pay anything for him to travel unless you have been ordered to by the Family Court. He's on his own, don't pay for him, you have to pay for the kid, and he sounds like a bit of a deadbeat if he's asking you for travel money. Where we come from, its a pay as you go world. He needs to pay his way. Its a hard situation for him, I've been there, but as a guy who has been in his position. I have never asked the mum for money, but she asks me for money all the time because she's organising the kid, she does a pretty fine job organising brain stimulating experiences for the kid which often don't come cheap. I did give her some travel money but then was annoyed that I wasn't going to so now I refuse to pay for travel for their holidays. I still will pay for necessary travel. I don't ask girls for money, I earn it and provide it for a kid. And that's what ex-guy Dad has to do. Be cool, the kid's gonna need his dad, but Dad has to pay his own way. Just be nice, but be firm and don't argue about it.

Hell no! Your son's father took it upon himself to move to another state, so his travelling expenses shouldn't be your problem! Besides, your son's father isn't keeping the end of his bargain by maintaining a relationship with your son and he ought to be ashamed of himself!
