Yes, is both Country, El Salvador has lately been in front running between Costa Rica. C.R. still has an edge due to its tourist but, falling behind with every year.
To put some example: To have a phone in Costa Rica you have to wait a year or so.......In El Salvador you can buy one on the spot or just wait days or a couple of weeks to have a land line....... El Salvador 4 years ago expanded their International Airport, making it the most advance in technology and biggest of them all in the region, and they are about to expanded again they are in talks and they may start in 2009. Also is about to open their brand new Seaport, in La Union, with Japan technology, and has the second best minimum wage after Guatamela so I read. Still Costa Rica is number 1, for how long? that all depends on them as they still have a lot give as well....1 last note...before the civil war in the 1980s, it was El Salvador the No.1 follow by Honduras (now the most poor one) and Guatemala. |

"Growing poverty and social problems are leading more and more women to turn to prostitution to survive. In San Salvador alone, there are thousands of women involved in the sex industry."
http://www.illegaleconomy.com/prostitution/prostitution_in_san_salvador.php Although prostitution is legal in El Salvador, the public perception of sex workers is mired in prejudice and hostility. Sex workers and homosexuals are regarded as the source of HIV and violent assaults are common. http://www.ciir.org/progressio/internal/92600/el_salvador__stone_flowers/ El Salvador still suffers from poverty, with approximately 49% of the rural population living below the poverty line; But although a 1992 peace agreement put an end to the civil war, El Salvador still has one of the highest homicide rates in the world: 56 per 100,000 population in 2006, according to the Institute of Forensic Medicine. http://www.ipsnews.net/news.asp?idnews=39143 |
