If she is having chest pain take her to the emergency room! yeah it will be a little expensive but they will work with you and set up a payment plan they will not just turn you away. Most all hospitals and doctors are willing to work with people to pay their medical bills if they do not have insurance. She will have more problems with medications that she will have to take. That is where the money is a real big issue. So talk with her doctor or a doctor and get them to prescribe the cheapest thing that will work for her. If she is a US citizen and over like 65 she may be eligible for like medicare or medicaid. Best of luck to you all and I hope she gets better soon.

Well in NY you can go to any hospital's emergency room and then when it's time to pay the bill you can show proof of her income and they will significantly reduce it or even drop the charges...but you should go to the hospital first, they always have social workers there who you could ask.
Also, she can apply for a government assisted insurance program. Here they have HIP, Affinity, Healthfirst....and it is free as long as her income is low....it doesn't matter that all her kids work, its her personal income they are going to look at. If she doesn't work and so doesn't fill an income tax then she can submit a letter saying she lives with her daughter, for example, who supports her monetarily but does not provide health benefits.....the insurance reps at the hospital will explain everything to you.
Since it seems that she needs medical help pronto, I suggest you go to a hospital and speak to someone there about the situation..go to the main lobby or to the emergency room....asap.
