Default Traveling with Dog to Mexico Border...?

Hi,
Was Hoping somebody lives in the border with Mexico can answer this question.
Can you take your dog across the border for short (a day or two) trips?
What do you need to enter Mexico with dog? (just the border area)
What do you need on returning to the US?
What about Puppies? can they be taken into Mexico and back?

Thanks

don't think it is okay, I would think you need proof of vaccinations/ownership just in case?. smuggling pups up from there (illegal)is a common practice,so, I wouldn't chance taking my dog down there . I think you should call the border patrol in s.d. and ask them for sure...

A simple Google search is all you need.

US-Mexican border control is very tight and features heavily int he news. For the aggravation this will cause you, you're better off leaving your dog behind.

Do not even contemplate taking your pup anywhere unless he's had all shots. Across the border is a very poor part of Mexico, and who knows what diseases stray dogs have.

If you still plan on taking your furry friend, here are some links about what you need to bring him or her across the border into Mexico. Don't forget to check that you have anything to bring your dog BACK into the US! I'd bring proof of your vet, your insurance plan, anything that proves that the dog in your possession is RETURNING to the US, and isn't a stray you picked up in Mexico. You don't want to be forced to leave Buddy behind!
