I remember reading this book and want to re-read it but don't know the name. It was about a character named Jade (I think), an LA writer who visits New Mexico on vacation and ends up trying on a dress in an antique store that makes her travel back in time and trade places with another woman, who lived in NM in the 1930s. The woman she switches with was unhappy at her time, but thrives in the present time, and Jade loves the 1930s and she then ends up falling in love with the woman's husband, who is a prominent artist. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

It sounds like the plot of the 1979 TV movie "The Two Lives of Jennie Logan." From imdb.com: This movie is about a woman who is trying to rebuild her shattered marriage. She and her husband move to an old Victorian style home, where she finds a beautiful dress in the attic, which has a tear in the shoulder. She has the dress repaired. When she tries it on in the restored attic, she suddenly finds herself in another era. This time travel seems to happen whenever she wears the dress. She learns the house was once owned by an artist who died under mysterious circumstances. She meets the artist and eventually falls in love with him. Knowing what she does about his fate, can her love save him and change history? The movie was based on the book "Second Sight" by David Williams -- perhaps it's what you remember? http://www.amazon.com/Second-Sight-David-Williams/dp/0515047082/?tag=24680e-20

No, sorry. But I have two suggestions for you - if you liked that book you might enjoy The Mirror by Marlys Millhiser. It was very similar to what you describe (but is not that book for sure).
The second is to try this book finder. They're pretty darned good and with all the detail you've given, you're sure to get the title. |
