Default What is the best way to travel to Atlixco,Puebla, mexico?

I'm trying to plan a trip to a small town in puebla, mexico some time in the near future.
I have ask about direct flights(NO STOPS) and there is only one to mexico city. My other options would be a one stop at houston,Tx or two stops at georgia and houston, which will take me almost all day, but this flights will go directly to puebla state in mexico, takes me a good 12-15 hrs having to change planes and the direct flight 5 hrs. now here is my problem I'm not familiar with the south of mexico. if I take the direct flight what transportation methods should I procure? I believe if I take the direct flight it takes about 3 more hrs to get to Atlixco.
Now if a take the flight-flights of one or two stops Puebla city in puebla state is only one hr to 30 min away, but since it takes so long having to change planes and all, should I rent a hotel,? or should I just keep going and again what type of transportation is available for me to get there?my question in the end is how I get there?

Hi there. Your assumptions are right. You should think what is more convenient for you. My recommendation is to fly directly to Mexico City, so you arrive directly to the country and start looking around. From the Mexico City airport there is a bus service to Puebla, the buses are very good in service so you can see the route to Puebla. Make sure you ride a bus that says CAPU, which is the Puebla bus station. From there you take another bus to Atlixco. The ride from Mexico City to Puebla by bus from the airport is about 1.30 to 1.45 hours, or more if you happen to be at the rush hour in Mexico city. Good Luck in your trip.

I agree with Stellar. Best to take a flight tp Mexico city airport. There will be frequent buses to the city of Puebla. then you may want to rest in Puebla and take the bus to Atlixco the next morning. There should be excellent service to Atlixco. Ask for a 1st class ticket, on a couple of dollars more and very comfortable. I HAVE A GREAT TRIP.
