America a continent divided in North, Central and South America?

thats what they teach in USA, but not in the rest of the world. Is exactly my question.

Because the U.S. is the first independent country to be established in the Americas.

North America is its own Continent made up of three countries: CANADA, the states and Mexico.
South America, yet another continent, is made up of Chile, Brazil, Argentina and many other countries.
Central America lies in between, containing such countries as Panama, and Cuba.
All of this use full information can be obtained from looking at any map produced this century.
