Why is the government of Belize different from that of other countries in central America?

they use English as the official language.

I believe that Belize is one of a few, if not the only, country in Central America that was colonized by England. Therefore much of their government is based on English law.

Because Belize, unlike the other Central American countries, was colonized by Britain. Belize(formerly known as British Honduras) became independent in 1981.English is the official language, and Belize(with the exception of Costa Rica) hasn't been plagued by military coups,dictatorships, or civil wars like so much of Central America has been at one time or another.

because its is not a Spanish country it is considered a Caribbean country my family comes from Belize

well i live in belize and the politics is more dirty thann an ther country. the people running for the office definitly do anythiing to take away its opponents. i wish u could see rite now the flags and and dirty remarks on the posters becuase elections is on febuary 7, 2008 and surely there will be lots of fights and partying...there is alot of rallies rite now! either u see blue or red shirs or flags...
