my son is 5 months old does he need a passport to travel to mexico?

i have asked and people ssay yea but others say no...so im confused
im not a us citizen tho i am a resident

Yes, now. Last year, no - new travel laws now require passports to Mexico and Canada from the USA.

Children need their own passport now. Mine had hers when she was just a month old, so taking the pictures was something but they told me that children do not travel on their parents passports anymore. But i don't know about Mexico though with the whole swine flu issue, you should be very careful!!!

Here is what is important...is your son an American citizen? If he is , he does not need a passport to travel to Mexico by LAND, but he does if he will be traveling by air. American children under 16 may travel to Mexico or Canada by LAND only with just their birth certificate. If they are going to travel by Air , they must have a passport. As a U.S. permanent resident YOU just need your green card...and if the baby is also a green card holder, he would need just his green card. Unless they've changed the passport laws, EVERYONE will need them in July 09---even an infant! So, go ahead and get it! It's not taking as long to process now, as it did a year ago!
