Does anyone know the situation on the Cuban 48hr ban on travel from Mexico? It was put in place on the 28th April and should have been lifted after 48hrs.
I went into the embassy on the 5th May to get a Cuban visa and they told me all flights from Mexico are still banned! |

Wow, Everyone hates Fidel (including me), but this was A very smart decision to make! I am not discriminating but I wish that the US will also do something like that in here.
Obviously Mexico is NOT doing enough to care for its people, so if they have this epidemic why should we let it spread to us? It will cost us millions in insurance and lives! Restriction until everyone is safe!!! Including those poor people in Mexico... yea, I have no clue when the ban will be lifted. Fidel is not known for telling the truth, so 48 can turn into a lifetime until the disease is gone |

I admire Cuba for things like that. They will make sure to not allow disease from afar into the country and work hard to make sure it doesn't run rampant within.
Here in Canada, flights to Mexico are being delayed as well. So if the embassy is saying the travel ban is still on, then it is. And apparently it is not known if it is just now only regarding the swine flu from some news reports (although I think it only is). If you can be patient, then just try to wait. Or perhaps you can travel through Canada? |

The original 48 hour ban was extended - why the surprise. The flu hasn't gone away.
I arrived in Cuba from Spain last night, and everyone had to fill in a form asking if the had had fever etc recently. I heard that a rumour that the flights from Mexico may stay suspended until at least the 20th. You don't say where you are from - if from the US, why not fly direct ? |
