I never had any trouble at all. I have vacationed there 2 times since I have been on insulin. I keep them in an insulated pouch with my insulin. They have never given me any problems about it. I never had any papers, but I did make sure that I had my vial of insulin in the box it came in that had the prescription with my name on it. Have fun.

Getting into Mexico is very easy, it's getting back into the U.S. that's more intensive. Just call your doc's office and have them fax you a letter (they probably have a form letter on file) that says you are under the doc's care and will be carrying insulin, syringes, pump supplies, whatever you'll have with you. It's also helpful if you keep the insulin box with your prescription sticker on it.
Also, if you wear a pump, never let them put it through the x-ray machine, just keep it on you while you walk through the scanning archway. Those machines can cause damage to your pump. |

No, honey. there are no problems with insulin, syringes, insulin pumps etc going to Mexico or Canada or anywhere else.
If you are flying be sure to have the Rx labels on the boxes and vials. Put them in a quart ziplock bag so they can be seen. For this you can have a separate insulated type bag for carrying them. Never put this stuff in your luggage, always have it in your hand. Be sure to take along a snack in case the flight is delayed. This is permitted to diabetics. |
