See 1st site below for recommended route. Add about 3 to 4 hr to the time it says as this site is always optimistic on times. See 2nd site for car permit info. Best to get the permit in San Antonio at the Mexican consulate as the car permit office in Nuevo Laredo is hard to get to and often has long lines that take hours to get through. See 3rd site for my fav. Mexican car ins. place. You will also need a Guia Roji, the Mexican road atlas...can buy it at large book stores or order on Amazon.com.

I'd like to mount a campaign to encourage people not to go anywhere. Travel has become so expensive and unpleasant that it's hard to understand why people don't stay home.
Why are we crowding our highways and airports to get someplace else? Newspapers and magazines are filled with ads trying to get us to travel. They want us to go somewhere - anywhere but home. |
