Default Can I travel by car into Mexico without a passport?

I want to drive from Arizona to Mexico for cheaper dental work, but I don' have a passport. Will I be alright with my license and birth certificate?

You'll be able to get to Mexico. But don't count on being able to get back into the U.S.

I think you need a passport to get back in the U.S. now. If you live near Nogalas or Naco just park on the U.S. side and walk across.

Right now, yes. In a few years, no. New law applies to air travel only at this point.

Dont listen to the majority of these people (sorry).

If you are traveling by car, no you do not need a passport UNTIL January of 2008. At this time passport requirments are only for people traveling by air in & out of the US.
