You should call the US passport aganecy and ask them, you won't have a problem leaving US but coming back you'd probably need a way to show you're an US citizen.
You should either expedite it (mine took only 4 days to get back to me) or depending on your location just go their office and they'll issue a passport in a matter of hours. don't count on what the traveling agent or the airline ppl tell you, make sure you ask the passport agency. PS: I have dual citizenship as well and my US passport was expired. I wanted to go to Mexico, but even with an expired passport and citizenship papers I still was told that I should renew it. |

you can get your passport with in 2-3 days if you go to the "main office" or the consulate. . . call- and ask what you can do b/c if you are a U.S. citizen you MUST have a passport I'm sure they would let you in the country but would give you hell about no having one. If you intend on using your Mexican passport to enter the U.S. they will assume you are a Mexican citizen and ask for a tourist visa (U.S. immigration officers don't care if you have dual citizenship or not)
Make sure before you leave |
