Socialism has a foothold in Central America with the recently re-elected Sandinista government of Nicaragua. In Mexico, the non-violent Zapatista rebellion is gaining increasing influence. I'm optimistic.
Unfortunately, the socialist democratic tide will probably stop at the Rio Grande. America seems to have an ingrained hostility to social justice. |

Socialist democracies are usually a response to a high level of income inequality combined with a relatively low level of capital investment that is a surplus of labor. In the US and Canada it will not happen because they do not have a labor surplus and Mexico is unlikely because of the influence of the US.

Yes, socialism will indeed spread there to America. If Hilary or Obama are elected expect a democratic socialism to prevail. They will tell you what to think, buy and do while they tax the living hell out of you. They will make a disgrace of our representative democracy and invite the world's immigrants in for all the freebies we have to offer: public school education, health care and social service that most citizen don't have. Yes. socialism is coming to a town near you if we have both democratic executive and legislative lead branches of government. Think of Germany in the 1940s and what happened then. Is that kind of government that you really what? It can and will happen if you don't think before you vote.

Socialism and communism have long been prevalent in Mexico. The Party of the Democratic Revolution is one of the three main political parties in Mexico. They control the governorship of five Mexican States. The party was originally founded by including many smaller left-wing parties such as PCM (Mexican Communist Party), Partido Socialista Unificado de México (Unified Socialist Party of Mexico), Partido Mexicano Socialista (Mexican Socialist Party) and Partido Mexicano de los Trabajadores (Mexican Workers' Party).
