Default Traveling to mexico with your dogs, will they let you go back and forth with no problem, driving?

as in, if I was to drive threw the boarder (sic) with my dogs, would I have a problem coming back home to the states?

Yes.

Your dogs can cross the border, but can't come back. No animals, vegetables or fruit.

They don't want you bringing any new diseases back to the US that we don't already have.

There is a way to do it but it's quite expensive and involves you leaving them in quarantine at the border. I think it's 2 weeks, not sure.

Since 9/11 there are a lot of new restrictions; they may have been there all along, only now the regulations are absolutely followed to the letter. One of the things that will be changing is that you will need a passport to go into Mexico, where as going into Baja California in the past was never a problem.

California will not allow fresh fruit or vegetables or even plants to enter the state because of the possibility of fruit flies and other insects that may be in them.

Animals are generally quarantined in Europe for as much as 6 weeks before they are returned to their owners. I would not be surprised to see this happen in CA, and other states on the Mexican border. It doesn't make much sense to me when it is a family pet, but don't risk losing your dogs because you crossed with border with them.

That would be an unwise move if you don't want to get them impounded on the way back.
