And what other impacts do you foresee in the international arena? Peace
"......With the discovery of vast troves of oil south of our border, it's probable that U.S. strategic interests will shift to our hemisphere. For the Middle East, that's a warning. For the Americas, it's an opportunity......." http://biz.yahoo.com/ibd/080425/issues.html?.v=1 |

In the short term I doubt it because the governments of so many of the South American countries are not structured in such a manner as to enable those who would immigrate illegally to be a part of that wealth. Generally that wealth is closely held either by the government or by a select group of people who, at this point, would be foolish to invest it in their own economy.

It might, but its highly doubtful,I ve worked for a short time for an oil servicing company, and no you learn on the job,so high skills do not apply to all applications of the industry. There are positions availiable in and around the industry that uses labor, that though hazardous(waste water etc,for cleaning and scrubbingTanks etc)will use common labor. The only things that hold it back from stopping immigration is the availiability of these jobs, the wages for the jobs, and If the Governments in those countries are in charge of the business and not private ownership(as if its government owned, the wages become cheaper due to no competition)Still I doubt that it will stop the influx of immigrants(illegal or not) from heading north.
P.S. As far as it sending a warning to the middle east,I doubt that too, until we can get rid of our environmental lobbyist groups from hampering efforts,to build new refinery facilities(no new ones have been built since the 70's) we could have millions of barrels in stock reserves but since you can only refine so much at a time as not to be able to keep up with demand, prices will remain high,no matter if its OPEC or any one else setting the price standard. |

I don't think so, As they can come here and have it all free,This may sound harsh, but the US hands it all to them on a platter they don't even have to do the paper work, like we do when going to the ER,and this gets my panties all in a wad. and I resent it. When I am paying. for my child to be treated, and I am filling all this paper work, they come in walking in and get top priority, and I am still filling out paper, work No they will never give this up, they would have to work there. so forget that idea. They would be the loser. So, it want happen.
