Yes, now you need a passport to travel from the US to the Carribean. (I believe the new passport law went into effect as of 1/12/07). The new law also requires a passport when you travel to Canada and Mexico. This new law has increased the volume of passport applications, so it may take a little longer to get a passport. Good luck!

YES, if you are flying to Caribbean countries outside the US.
NO, if you are going by ship or are visiting Caribbean islands that are part of the US (ie Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands) By Jan, 2008 you will need a passport to travel anywhere outside of the US, whether by air, land or sea. Check out the link below to get the details and to get the forms and instructions on how to apply for a passport. |

To be 100 percent truthful, there are places in the Caribbean you can go without a passport. But if you want to go back into the US, you will need your passport. Because the US govenment passed a law requiring you as a US Citizen, to have a passport to get back into the US.
Hope that helps and clarifies. |
