ideas on how to break into the music business with travelling with the band...?

i dont even really know what career in particular. a job where you travel with the band, preferably indie bands, and just, i guess a roadie would work but soundboard or something like that where you just travel with the band and help at each show and just... again ya just traveling with the band and helping them out. .... any ideas what so ever? that could help me in any way shape or form?

um.. no.. nevermind. That would be wrong to suggest you start dating the musicians..

There are bands that accept internships.. contact your favorite band's label an they might be able to steer you in the right direction..

..or you could date the guys in the band. (sorry!)

dunno, maybe working as a personal assistant..u know, making reservations, keeping the band on schedule for interviews & such, running errands for them...sounds cool, can i join u??? lol

Well, most band roadies have been friends of band members since the band's inception. Do you know anything about music equipment. You need to be able to tune guitars, replace strings, etc.

Most of the people you see working at a concert (sound guy, people setting up on stage, etc.) work for the music venue.

Or you just become a groupie. You don't have to know how to do anything except sleep with the musicians.

Well, most indie bands dont need a soundboard person. They bring thier own amps and instruments, but use the microphones and PA system that is provided by the venue. The venue usually has a sound guy there too.

I suppose you could be a roadie for an indie band, but that would make them not really an indie band. Indie defines them as doing all thier own work (promotions, packing, setting up, driving themselves, rooming themselves at hotels or sleeping in the car) and another person would be more of a burden for them than a help. You could try to get hired with a big-name band, they usually need roadies

Before you go on tour, try helping bands setup/teardown thier stuff at a local venue of yours, see if you can sit in with the soundguy maybe. Its a hard job
