Where in the world should a student on a budget go if she wants to travel?

I'm a student who really wants to travel, although because I'm a college kid... I'm also broke. I'd love to travel to S. America, Europe, Asia and Australia but what would be the best way to see a lot (not everything) without putting me into 10 more years of debt?

Also, what should a month traveling internationally on a budget cost??
