Traveling to Singapore at near end of the year (spending New Years Eve) is much more costly than any other season. For a family of 5, with limited budget like mine, what the best place to eat (presumeably hawkers place) around Marina, places to visit, or sight seeing.

There are always many budget food places in Singapore , for food you budget S$50 /day of stay (all hawkers places and also those food court in Orchard near Isetann they have these fried noodles(kwarteoy??) with shrimps (S$ 3.50).two could share , tau foo $S0.75/pc , 7 pcs with vege two could share For fare you would need like S$20.00 /day bus ride and MRT . What you need to really include is the Sentosa Night Safari , but this would be like S$ 300.00 for the family not including the snacks and some shopping form souvenirs budget S$700.00 for this . All this expenses are manageable , your only problem now is the accommodation because during this season you like to visit they could be double . You could try to see the rates using this site www..hangout@mt.emily so you could find the budget rates .

Where to eat: Little India [Indian], Joo Chiat Rd [Chinese, Malay, Peranakan/Nonya], All other hawker centers (incl. food courts in shopping centers)
What to see: Orchard Rd - fantastic this time of year, because of the magnificent Christmas light displays. Lights usually start at Tangs or Wheelock Place (cnr of Scotts Rd and Orchard Rd) and extend to Plaza Singapura (near Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station). Listen to the TV ads for NYE celebrations. You can either watch it on TV or you can go and watch it on Marina Bay Floating Stadium or around the waterfront. Transport: VERY CHEAP. MRT [Train] costs from SGD0.90. This does not include SGD1 refundable deposit. Taxis can be hailed almost anywhere. Buses are very reliable. |
