Hotels in Boston near subway stations.?

A friend and I will be spending a couple of nights in Boston in August to attend a couple of games at Fenway Park. We are looking for relatively cheap lodgings in the Boston area that is easily accessible to subway for access to the city. Anyone with experience have any suggestions?

Hmmm, that's tricky, as a lot of the downtown lodgings can be very expensive. One place you might try is the Midtown Hotel ( http://www.midtownhotel.com ); it's rather modest but clean and relatively cheap - at least compared to the other places in the area - and you can't beat the location: It's near 3 major subway lines and you can walk to Fenway Park in 10 minutes. Other than that, if you want to go really cheap you can try the YMCA on Huntington Ave ( http://www.ymcaboston.org ), or for a step up you could try the Chandler Inn ( http://www.chandlerinn.com ). You can walk to Fenway from either location - although it's a bit far from the Chandler, maybe 20 minutes.
