Boston Hotels-Boston Common Area?

I was looking to book at Lenox Hotel (aka The Lenox) at Downtown Boston, but I am not sure if the hotel is overated or if it is really good. Does anyone know if this hotel is really good? Also, please include any suggestions of other hotels in Downtown Boston that are good that you had experience staying at. Thanks.

i stayed in the hilton in the financial district last week. actually quite central 5 min walk to washington street. 10 to the common.

Hi there...I stayed at the Boston Marriot at Copley place. I would really recommend this hotel it is pretty much attached to a shopping mail and I feel quite central to many attractions. The area around the hotel is very safe and clean . I went with my hubby and our two kids. If I remember correctly we got on the duck tours just outside the hotel. The pool has great rooms and good leisure facilities ...pool, gym sauna etc. x

It is a very nice older hotel. But it is in uptown, not downtown (so is the Marriot Copley Place recommended by lisamark).

Financial district Hilton is excellent.

Long Wharf Marriott and Custom House Marriott are very nice too.
