There is a brand new hotel - Hotel Indigo - in Newton MA (which is about 15 minutes outside of Boston) and it is literally a 3 minute walk (if that) to the Riverside T stop. I'm not quite sure what the pricing is, but with that proximity to public transportation, it's probably going to be cheaper than a hotel in downtown Boston!
Situated in the tranquil suburb of Newton, just 10 miles from downtown Boston Located on the MBTA Green Line at Riverside Station, servicing downtown Boston, Fenway Park, and TD Bank North Garden Only minutes from Boston College, the Riverside Center, and Newton-Wellesley Hospital Just 10 miles from Logan Airport (BOS) |

The Seaport Hotel is a great hotel- there is a Silver Line T stop Literally just outside the hotel. The silver line is a bus but it goes underground and everything and meets up at the train T stops. The hotel is in a quieter area, but there are a bunch of restaurants around (as well as the great restaurant in the hotel "aura") and its not far from the hub of the city. Its a very popular hotel though, so I would recommend not leaving it to the last minute to book your nights.

try all the online price hunting sites... good ones I have Had luck with are priceline, hotwire, kayak.com, and hotels.com
You have to search, and keep notes as to which site has what but you can find deals... I have stayed during peak times such as 4th of July and New Years. Great hotels, cheap! The only place that we ever stayed that didn't have a T near us was in Cambridge. Other than that in Boston it may be only a block away, and you can walk from part of the city to the other side in less than a half hour, seeing lots along the way! |

I agree with phlebgirl to check the discount websites - www.priceline.com, www.expedia.com, www.travelocity.com.
Also, you may want to check the Club Quarters Inn in Boston's Finanical District. We stayed there in 2006 over the 4th of July. It's a hotel for business travelers that has discounted rates on the weekends because most business travelers are 'home' on the weekends, so they are not as full - especially in the off-tourist season. Good luck! |
