I'll be taking classes at the main Harvard campus and working at Tuft's School of Medicine. I don't know many people in the area and am from CA so I'd love any help from people who know Boston!

I have lived here in Boston all my life and LOVE it. For great places to eat try S&S on Cambridge street in Cambridge, tons of great places to eat in the area. You will be able to take the T where ever you go. Get the monthly pass though it saves you money in the long run and is a tax write off in the end. I still live in Somerville which is right outside Boston next to Cambridge and LOVE it. You will be introduced to Dunkin Donuts and it will be addicting.
There are tons of clubs in Boston at night, and games at Fenway are fun. You will always find something to do in Boston. Also Newbury Comics is a great store for good music and other stuff. Hope you like Boston we are wicked nice here. |

redbones ! (in cambridge ,right around the corner from the "T ")great place to eat , bbq- southern food. sit at the counter, theycook right in front of you and give you samples non-stop. so dont buy a big meal because you get alot of samples.--also take the red line right into center of town lots of good restaurants in fanneal hall (spelled wrong)plus the north end is only a few blocks away ,its all italian food.,take one of those trolly tours ,you will learn the area pretty good from riding around. subways are pretty safe, try not go to far south of the city ,it gets a little shady. good luck.

Go to the North End (Boston's Italian district) it has the best food in the county. Fanueil Hall is a lot of fun too. So is Harvard Square (you will be right there if you are taking classes at Harvard). Tufts is technically in Medford, so you would need to take the train or drive into Boston or Cambridge.
If you're from CA it might seem like people here live at a faster pace and are sort of unfriendly. But you just need to get used to the pace. People here are very nice, but are a little less likely to have a conversation with a stranger in the supermarket. I hope also hope you like sports as the city sort of revolves around the Red Sox and the Patriots. Go to a bar to watch a Red Sox game, you'll meet people. |

whats awesome where in ca do you live? my gf and i live in southern san diego and are moving to boston in july. she is from seattle, but i am from boston and have been in cali for 4 years now from la to sd. she keeps asking me the same things. boston is much different then cali . people are nice, but not wide open like out here. for example you know how all kinds of people will be " flaky" and pretend to be your friend in cali, but you have to get to know them to see if they really are respectable or just putting on a big show. well its kinda like that in boston, but people seem harsh at first like they dont care, but most people open up and are the most trustworthy hardest working people in the world. im excited to move back because i miss the life there. im sure you will like it because it is just like an east coast kid moving to la . they are different worlds. im sure youll meet people also.
