I want to know more about the Vendome Hotel Fire Memorial (located in Boston Commonwealth Avenue Mall). Could anyone answer the following questions about it?
1.) What does it show? 2.) How big is it? 3.) What are the inscriptions on it? 4.) When was it being installed on the Mall? 5.) Who was the sculptor who created it? Thanks a lot~~~! |

The Hotel Vendome Fire Memorial is comprised of a curved piece of polished black granite over which a bronze sculputed firefighters coat and helmet are draped. The names of the nine firefighters who lost their lives in the fire are inscripted in the granite as is the story of the fire. It was installed and dedicated in 1997 on the 25th anniversary of the tragedy. Ted Clausen and Peter White created the memorial. I'm not really sure how long the sweep of granite is. It presents as a low wall. Photos are available online.
