Nantucket is full of great restaurants! Unfortunately, I don't particularly like seafood. I'm guessing you mean the Union Oyster House when you say "old union". The food is passable, but it might be worth visiting because it is the oldest restaurant in the country and it does have some ambience. I did always like the East Coast Grill in Cambridge - Inman Square I think?

I think you probably have to take a bus from Hyannis to Boston, the Plymouth & Brockton provides service I think. Or get down to the tip of the cape, Provincetown (again, more great restaurants) and take a high speed ferry to Boston.

I think there are more cozy little B&Bs in Cambridge than Boston proper, or you could even go out to Concord (nice little hotel right in the center of Concord, of course I can't think of the name off-hand), or Lexington.

Oh, and you can go whale watching out of Boston, or P-town for that matter, or even Nantucket of course. You can even stop in the whaling musuem in Nantucket. And there are some super beaches on Nantucket, and there is the Cape Cod National Seashore, the dunes around P-town, etc.

Sorry I can't be more help. When I go back now we tend to head up to the mountains in Vermont after a few days in Boston.

Have fun!

I like and recommend the Chatham Bars Inn in Chatham, MA. While there, stop by Haven's Market, which always features three varieties of Donuts, labeled "These, them, and those." The Chatham Light, one of the oldest lighthouses on the east coast is a popular spot, and within walking distance of the Chatham Bars Inn. Tale of the Cod is a unique gift shop that has lots of things unique to Cape Cod, and Chatham is the site of the 2001 movie "Summer Catch", and in the summer time you really can see the Chatham Athletics (A's) play in the Cape Cod League, which is the number one supplier to MLB of new professional players.

Be careful driving on Route 6 on your way down to the cape. It's two-lane road and has a lot of accidents because of people who don't pay attention.

Great Seafood- Union Oyster House -#1 Chowder in town by Fanual Hall
Great Italian- Salem St. in the North End- Al Dante's - Best Calamari ever - then of course Mike's Pastry on Hanover for Cannoli or Gelato.
"Traditional Chinese"- The China Pearl- china town
"Cheers" - aka the Bull and Finch - very touristy, there is a franchise TV show style bar in Fanual Hall or the original across from the Public Garden.
Train from south station to the cape.
