It seems that Imperial Tara is closer to things going on but more of businessman hotel whereas Century Park is further away but more suited to tourists, can't make up our minds, only there two nights.

I don't know the Imperial Tara but it seems to be in the same area as St.James. Therefore, its close to Emporium mall for shopping/movie theatre/restaurants. Asiarooms.com shows Imperial Tara US$50 a night until end of Oct. If you shop around I think you can do better than that for US$50 per night - you can get Amari St.James for about that price http://www.amari.com/stjames . I like the area very much; although going up to Central World/MBK from there is a bit of a trek.
I know the area of Century Park very well as I used to live near there. It is a nice hotel; more comparable to St.James. It is closer to the main shopping area around Central World and moreso Pratunam and Pantip than Imperial Tara; in fact its quite walkable if you're feeling particularly energetic but otherwise its a short cab ride away. I have not stayed at Century Park; if I wanted to be near Central World/Pratunam for shopping, why stay at Century Park which is about half a mile from the shopping when you can stay at Indra Regent or the Eastin Hotel Makkasan, which are similar quality and similar price to Century Park, but are better located in that they have the shopping virtually on their doorstep and therefore no need to get a taxi? |

Given these 2 hotels, I would choose the Imperial Tara Hotel. It's not that far from the Emporium where there is a skytrain station which gives you easy access to many parts of Bangkok. Most hotels cater to both business and tourist. Imperial Tara Hotel is one of the few that supposedly has babysitters. LOL Plus there are a number of restaurants and bars around the hotel but, don't forget to try the hotel coffee shop, they are usually good and inexpensive.
http://www.asiarooms.com/thailand/bangkok/imperial_tara-hotel-facilities.html http://www.asiarooms.com/thailand/bangkok/century_park-hotel-facilities.html Most of the Tourists spots are nearer the older part of Bangkok. Which is easier to access by taking the skytrain to MBK Centre then take a taxi to the older part of Bangkok. Save about 30 minutes or more in a cab. Good luck and enjoy |

there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely show you great hotels at the best prices available. check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it's very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.
