I need a ok- good hotel near the mai station in bangkok around 500 baht any help would be appreciated.?

you can search online the hotels in bangkok and there are so many which you can choose.personally i went twice to bangkok and i went to Grand Diamond Hotel .it's a good hotel.you can go to www.sawadee.com and chek the hotels in thailand.

Skytrain stop or national train station at Hua Lumphong?

In Bangkok meter taxi cabs are pretty cheap. You could get a cheap place in the Khao San Road area and then just taxi over to the train station. Or get a cheap place on Sukhumvit Road and take the subway to the train station. No Skytrain in the Khao San Road area.

do you mean the sai tai mai (forgive spelling) Southern Bus Station??? If so, you can easily stay in a 4 sons hotel in Banglampu (Soi Rambutri) for about 350 for a singl a/c room a night and catch the 511 or 516 to the station
