The Seafood Market on Soi 24 is great and a bit expensive in comparison to other restaurants.

If you can get a reservation a Sirocco Restaurant or Mezzaluna Restaurant in the State Building near the Chao Phraya river. It's the second tallest building in Bangkok and they have outdoor seating for Sirocco and a sitting area for Distil, the bar up there. It's quite nice and a bit expensive.

I ate at Mezzaluna and its continental cuisine. And priced for foreigners. No deals. The drinks at Distil are similarly priced. Reservations can be made online.

The another restaurant that may interest you is the Baiyoke Sky Hotel's Bangkok Sky Restaurant, the buffet I heard from a friend is good and it is in the tallest building in Bangkok.

During the day, while you are shopping you can try the food courts in the buildings or malls, they are quite good, clean and inexpensive. You most likely buy like a couple hundred baht of chits or tokens or debit card, each stall you buy from will charge you and when you leave you can cash the card, token or chits.

There is Starbucks, McDonalds(I have not eaten there), Kentucky Fried Chicken(nor here) and Pizza Hut. I would also suggest MK Restaurant which is in most malls, they are Thai version of Shabu Shabu. Very good and lots of food. There is Black Canyon Coffee, drinks are great, not just coffee and the food is good.

Most restaurants will have a specialty menu or listing and go from there. Even the restaurants in your hotel are probably good to very good. I have been visiting Thailand since 2004 and have not had a bad meal in a hotel. UNLESS you order western food, then maybe you may be disappointed unless it is a very expensive place.

Good luck and enjoy

If you want real Thai food, you should go to a Thai restaurant that Thais eat at. A place I recommend is Som Tum it's in Bang na on the opposite side of the road from Seacon Square.

If you want the very best Thai food, the mom and pop stands on the side of any street have the best food.

Thai Street food is delicious!

I'd recommend Krua Apsorn(Samsen Road). The awesome mussels fried "pad cha" styele, with basil, yellow chili, karachai (wild ginger) and green peppercorns (B80) are so plump and sweet. Even more amazing is the delicious fresh chunks of "thigh" crabmeat fried with yellow chilies, onions and string beans (B270). also, don't miss southern style yellow curry with lotus stems and shrimps...!! i 02-241-8528
