BANGKOK - can you advice whether the 'Ibis Siam' Hotel located in Pratunam is good?

If not, can you recommend another please based on the details below?

I am looking for a comfortable mid price hotel (around per night £25/1,571 Baht) and came across the above hotel?

Is it actually near Siam Square, as been told it is a good, safe area to be based/next to?

You might want to check this place out on the internet. It is the FIRST HOTEL, 2 Phetchaburi Road. This is a mostly "no bars area" and has lots of malls and street vendors close by. Nearest Skytrain stop is at the Asia Hotel, about a 8 minute walk.

You will find the Panthip Plaza computer mall a short walk away and a mini garment center is almost across the street from the Panthip Plaza near the Baiyoke Tower Hotel.

This hotel has internet specials that are around your budget price.

Ibis Siam is actually near Victory Monument about a 10 min walk to the BTS station. The hotel it self is next to Century Park Hotel, not really in Pratunam but you get there in about 15 mins by taxi or bus, the bus stop is right in front of the hotel.

There are other hotels like First Hotel which is near Pantip Plaza, but for the roughly the same price I think Ibis Siam is a better choice, Ibis is newer (opened in 2005).

Only big difference is the room, First Hotel has a bigger room, but not by much in my opinion the rooms at Ibis are much cleaner.

Ibis Siam is ok the location in Pratunam area. This area close to big departmentstore such such as Siam Square,Central world, Emporium, Siam paragon and Central chidlom. And close to wholesale trade area also. You will save there coz it's a crowned area and it's not too expensive.

But i have a reccoment another hotel at Silom ares it Trinity Silom hotel. My friend stayed there before it's about 1200/night. and can walk to sky train. Easy to go to Siam square and any placees.
