Does someone know about The Residence Rajtaevee Hotel, Bangkok? Need ur help on my coming trip to Bangkok?

I'm searching for hotels in bkk thru website www.hotelthailand.net and found Residence hotel. The price for twin room there is 1005 BHT/nite. But when I check out the official website of the hotel, it turns out to be 1400 BHT/nite (with additional dinner or lunch voucher). I dun want to have meals at hotel, except for breakfast. So I'm thinking about reservation thru hotelthailand website ... but i'm just confused whether it's reliable or not? And can u recommend me some hotels that are near to Skytrain and around the rate of 1000 BHT?

Can u recommend some more beautiful sceneries that I should not miss and some places where I can enjoy Thai dishes with reasonable price. I'm on a budget trip for leisure, ya know.

HI you will be ok to book with hotelthailand , it seem if you book direct with hotels in thailand you pay more , i dont know why this is . We use http://www.hotspot-asia.com/index.asp they are ok you need to print off a voucher to give to hotel

I have not stayed at The Residence Rajtaevee Hotel nor have I used www.hotelthailand.com You will find contrary to other countries that the website for the hotel if they have one is much higher than the online discounters or travel sites. You will probably be okay using www.hotelthailand.com I have used www.asiarooms.com and www.sawadee.com in the past without problems. Unfortunate for you in November many of the hotels raised their rates to discounters or packagers. Trying to find a 1000 baht room rate is not hard just depends on what you will accept.

Personally, I have been to Bangkok 12 times and stayed at the Plaza Athenee's Meridien Hotel via Expedia, Amari Atrium Hotel on Petchaburi Road, Grand Mercure Fortune Hotel, Emerald Hotel, Palazzo Hotel and the Chao Phya Park Hotel on Ratchadapisek Road. I think staying along Sukhumvit is tooo noisy and smelly. Guess where I stay? hahaha Why? Because it is more open and sunny and less noise and accessible by subway. The subway is very safe for a woman. Like the skytrain it does only run to midnight.

When I stayed at the Amari Atrium Hotel, we had to take a taxi here and there and it was very time consuming and frustrating. Since you are on a budget, I assume you would want to use a taxi the least.

My suggestion though I have not stayed there and have only seen it from across from the Emerald Hotel is maybe staying at the Siam Beverly Hotel on Ratchadapisek Road. I had tried to stay there during my last visit in November 2007 but, they were booked up. I ended up at the Palazzo Hotel which turned out to be a nice place.

There is a subway station, Huay Khwang, maybe 5 minute walk down the street and you happen to be on the side that heads to downtown Bangkok if you want a taxi. There is a 7-11 across the street though you should use the subway station to cross the street if you need any snacks or such. Sukhumvit road is about 12 minutes away by subway and the wait there is never more than 5 minutes.

There are no dark streets to walk down to get to your hotel since it is right on the main boulevard. On the opposite side of the street there is a great Taiwanese restaurant, fairly reasonable. And up the street is the Huay Khwang night market. If you want to do some late night shopping or eating. And if you are out late it's only about a 15-20 minute taxi ride or about 60-100 baht from sukhumvit Road.

I looked along Sukhumvit Road and the hotels in your price range are a long walk from sukhumvit, some almost to Petchaburi Road.

Sawadee.com's price for the rooms are much higher. You can at least read the reviews.

As far as the breakfast, it's nice to have it. You may not want it but, most reservations include the breakfast which sometimes can be great.

You can go up to the Skybar or the top of the State Building, the view of the Chao Phraya river and Bangkok is spectacular. Or you can go to the Baiyoke Sky Hotel and go up to the buffet restaurant, that is the tallest building in Bangkok. You have to see the Grand Palace for sure, cost is like 800 baht. Wonderful sight.

If you have time take a day and go to Pattaya, if you like the beach. All the other touristy sights I guess you could do. I have not had a chance for one reason or another. The royal barge museum etc.

There is shopping galore. For clothes, the Platinum Mall is probably best. Souvenirs, MBK center Or Mah Boon Khrom center is a nice place. Visit the Siam Discovery center's aquarium if you want. And if you want to see Rodeo Drive or Paris in Asia go through the Siam Paragon mall across from MBK center.

For food, there is a seafood restaurant, I forget the name, Thai-something. It's in the basement of the Times Square basement on the left. It's a cozy little place. Right across the street from Robinsons on Sukhumvit Soi 19. You can take the skybridge in Robinsons to cross to the other side.

A block down the street is Seafood Palace, a little more expensive. Don't be afraid to experiment and try different places. Oishi restaurants in the mall are good inexpensive noodle meals, K restaurants are good too, kind of a shabu shabu thai style. And if all else fails there is McDonalds. There are good drinks and food in Black Canyon Coffee restaurants. You know where ever the kids in school clothes go, it's usually good and relatively inexpensive. There are also many food courts in the malls, that is a great place to experiment on different foods for a low price.
