The best to look online is www.mrroomfinder.com You can search for your hotel based on location, price, amenities, and several other characteristics.

One place that would be good for seniors that is a good bargain and a decent location is www.silomconventgarden.com

I have stayed there and their rates are reasonable since its a hotel and a serviced apartment. Finding a hotel that also does service apartments will lower your cost tremendously.

The Peninsula and The Oriental are the 2 best. Best for $ is probably Royal Orchid Sheraton. You want to be on the river (especially if this is your first trip there).

Hi, there are practically hundreds of hotels and guesthouses in Bangkok alone. So you can get a pretty wide choices of where you can stay. Maybe you can narrow down your choice of nice hotel either by location, price or neighbourhood.

If you are looking for location, the ones along the Chao Phraya River and sathorn district will be nice. If you want shopping nearby, then Siam or Sukhumvit or Pratunam will be better.

If you want to be in the busy part of town where many tourist frequent, then Sukhumvit and Silom might be your choice.

The link to asiarooms.com above is good to find one you like, as there are guests reviews too. Or you can usr http://www.directrooms.com to find and contact the hotel that suits you.

Have a great stay in Bangkok.

Asiarooms.com did me a fine job. I enjoyed the Ambassador, A bit on the old side, but great breakfast, and only about $50 a night. They have tightened their visitor policy. Charged 600B for a massage girl that we have used for last 3 trips to come to our room.. My wife is also Filipina and they approached her once for a lady fee. Boy did I get pissed... Maybe not a good choice after all>>>> LOL

I loved walking up and down SUK street and was close to the sky train.

Often you will find that if you book on line you will get a much better price than at the counter. Even if you are extending your stay it is best to go on line. If you want to make a side trip like to Manila, Put it into your original ticket package, as the rules change to luggage depending on how the tickets are issued.
