My best friend fell in love with a piece from the travelling Cone Collection from the Baltimore Museum of Art. I was looking to get her a print for Christmas and I was hoping to figure out who the artist was without asking her so I could suprise her. The artist was supposedly mentored by Picasso and didn't paint until later in life. I remember this painting was very child-like and it showed a kite and smoke-stack blowing in opposite directions(hence the child-like reference). Please help!!

The painting you are looking for is Henri Rousseau, View of Quay d’Ivry near the Port Ă* l’Anglais, Seine (Family Fishing), oil on canvas, 1900, The Baltimore Museum of Art: The Cone Collection,
http://www.nga.gov/press/exh/230/images.shtm Scroll down to cat. image 30. The image is small, but there is a smoke stack. I cant see a kite, but as this is a family outing, it may well be there. It would be worth contacting the Baltimore to ask if there is a print available (only they would have it). http://artbma.org/about/contact.html |
