What are some Fun Things To Do in the Baltimore Metro Area?

I am looking for something fun to do with my kids who are 8 & 4 years old.
I live right outside of Baltimore, MD and am willing to travel up to 3 hours.
I know that their are lots of things to do in DC (museums, monuments, etc....) but I'm sure how exciting that will be for a 4 year old.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Thank You!!!!

The National Zoo is an absolute MUST for 4 year olds! Recommend parking at Greenbelt and taking the Metro. The zoo is right off the Metro. Take the first train car...which is always thrilling for 4 year olds as you can peer into the conductor's cab. The zoo is on the Red Line. Exit at Woodley Park/Zoo.

That's a full day's activity in itself.

Here are some fun things to do in Baltimore itself:
1) Visit the aquarium at the inner harbor
2) Visit the Science Center at the inner harbor
3) See the Baltimore Zoo
4) Take a water taxi and explore Fort McHenry
Farther away:
1) Williamsburg, VA -- go to Busch Gardens / Water Country USA theme parks
2) Largo, MD -- visit Six Flags, or better yet, visit the Six Flags park in New Jersey -- that has a Safari where you can drive through and have monkeys, giraffes, etc. walking around your car!
3) Go to the beach -- there are really nice beaches in Delaware not too far away
4) Go camping at the Catactin Mountains in Western Maryland -- not a long drive, but beautiful nature, and a nice lake.

Take a drive up to Carroll County and go to Cascade Lake. There is a great big water slide (48 inches to go on), paddle boats, and a 6 acre lake.

There is the zoo, aquarium, Science Center (my 3 year old nephew LOVED it).

The websites below offer stuff to do. The last one has 18 places to go with kids.

Six Flags Water Park would be fun for a 4 year old.

The Baltimore Aquarium... both ages will love it! It's amazing and can take just a few hours or the whole day! You can also eat someone near the harbor and take a ride on one of the platoon boats. And what 4 year old doesn't love seeing all those HUGE ships in the harbor... they are amazed.
