Default Are Canadians safe to travel in Iraq with a maple leaf sewn on their backpack?

I'd really love to see Iraq, the ancient country that it is. I love Middle Eastern food, and I'm intrigued by the architecture over there.

Usually a maple leaf sewn on my backpack and the odd few highschool French words are my passport to having a great time abroad, but I get the feeling that the Americans have ruined it for us Canadians in Iraq.

Do you concur?
For the guys who think that Canada went to war in Iraq: That's just your imagination. I wonder who told you that. Obviously you don't remember that Bush was upset when Canada REFUSED to join the war. Jean Chretien, as PM of Canada at the time, answered for Canadians.

canada was part of the invasion of iraq too. so i would say the canadians have "ruined it" for the canadians. plus, roadside bombings and suicide bombers are blowing up their own countrymen, i don't think a maple leaf is going to get you immunity.

No one is safe there now, don't you see? Do you watch the news? The terrorists don't care where you are from to them everyone is an outsider. Why don't you wait untill the war is over so you don't get hurt or killed over there.

no, I'm sure you have troops over there to, and I'm pretty sure your part of the UN. And if you follow the news Americans aren't the only ones being targeted. And no offense, I don't think they would believe you or else every military person over there who does not want to be there would be wearing maple leaves and saying "good hockey game a"

WAR?!? Just three little letter, yet it seems so complicated. Perhaps you should researh the meaning of it! "I love Middle Eastern food" ORDER TAKE OUT! Whats the matter with you? A maple leaf? I saw some Canadian Flags flying aside the Good 'ole Red, White, & Blue. Get real. Actually, you should get a library card. If you want to see Iraq so bad, read books. The parts you want to see were mostly "ruined" by a necessary war that your Country knowing walked into WITH US! I am just ranting, and I think he said it best...

"...so i would say the canadians have "ruined it" for the canadians. ... i don't think a maple leaf is going to get you immunity. "

You can't travel there as a tourist period, at least not from most of the world. Check with the Canadian government.

Well, they really hate Americans so far as I can see.... I don't think they're fans of Canadians, but they probably hate the yankees a lot more.

They don't really care if you're Canadian or some other nationality; a civilian is a civilian, and according to them, civilians need to die and marketplaces need to be destroyed.

But it would probably be a lot safer than Afghanistan; I've heard that they SPECIFICALLY go after Canadian troops and mainly leave the civilians alone. Its because if you bomb non-combatants, you get bad face in the world.

Greetings and how are you, personally I would remove it, everyone loves Canadians cause your cool people, BUT don't red flag. Not every one is a savvy to the difference between Canada and the Devils own country US so be careful my friend and if you are blond colour your hair and get a sun tan.

I am happy to offer more advice and help plan a trip such as that. Good luck and keep on travelling
