Default Does anyone know why my friend is having trouble getting a travel visa from USA to Australia?

My friend overstayed in Australia and was excluded for 3 years which has now finished and is now having great difficulty getting another visa! Has anyone else had this problem, or knows anyone that has? I thought once you had "served your time" all was good again! She left voluntarily and at her own expense so I don't really see what the Australian Immigration Department's problem is! Thanks all and happy travelling lol

Just as people from everywhere are having problems getting visas to visit USA, the US citizens too will have to face similar problems! This is what we call in immigration or visa language 'reciprocacy'!
Take for instance, an Australian awaiting trial in connection with the 9-11 incident. American citizens caught committing any crimes overseas will also face similar treatment. In fact, there are more things in the pipe line than what has seen the light so far!

your friend violated and ignored australia's immigration law so of course they are going to give your friend a tough time this time around. im sure they have your friend's passport on file or even blacklisted.

They don't like the US. Brits are just fine and dandy. If a brit did the same, they would be allowed to return.

Of course she will have a difficult time - she violated Australian law. She was excluded for three years, by statute. Now, she is eligible to re-apply, but that does not mean that she will be approved. What is to say that she will not overstay again? All countries are putting much more effort now into enforcing their immigration laws, which means that people are going to have to start accepting responsibility for their actions when they choose to violate the law.
