Hire a car and drive down to Margaret River, Dunsborough and Yellingup. Gorgeous coastline, great wineries, cheese and chocolate factories, caves, forests etc etc. It's only a couple of hours south of here and well worth a trip if you have the time.
In Perth itself I like the Perth Zoo, Kings Park with it's tree top walk, Fremantle...especially the Esplanade and the Freo Markets...my favourite places on earth! I have never been to Rottnest but my husband loves it there and says it's worth a look. AqWa is good but a little expensive. It's a huge aquarium with a tunnel under so you can feel like you are under the sea. We also love driving to Dwellingup about an hour from where we live, to enjoy the bush. It has heaps of walk and bike trails, rivers and streams. You can hire canoes in town and canoe down the rivers. Looks so fun. I have only lived here for a year and haven't been out much as I am heavily pregnant but there is heaps to do here. |

The Burswood Casino - anytime. Gloucester Park trots on Friday night. Ascot racecourse on Saturday - Summer Carnival is on.
A ferry trip to Rottnest Island. Fish & chips & a bottle of chardonnay at Kailis' on the Frenmantle Fisherman's Wharf. Maybe a river cruise up the Swan for lunch at one of the wineries. If it doesn't involve eating, drinking or gambling it's not worth visiting! |

If you have the budget fly to Monkey Mia for a couple of days. (see the dolphins) Too far by road in two weeks. (12 hours each way)
Locally, there is Kings Park ( a must by day and night) Perth Zoo (you can spend an entire day there) Ride a bike around the bridges (for hire city side) Beaches, beaches, beaches Sorrento Quay is a great day out. Shopping resturants, beaches, and AqWa is there too. Also ferrys to Rotto leave from there as well. Kalamunda if you want a taste of the HILLS. Gotta do ZIG ZAG hill if you are up there. Nice view. Freo markets on a weekend. Freo cafe strip anytime. River cruise for sure For a WONDERFUL different experience (if you have the budget) you can book and go on the resturant train Spirit Of the West. It is a set menu, but fine dining and good service. Good shopping at Harbour Town if you are into factory outlets. Scitech is interesting if you have kids. If you have the budget, a few days mid week on a houseboat on the Murray River is an excellent getaway and good fun. Leaves from Mandurah. (one hours drive from Perth) Have fun. |
