I don't think that there is a cheap way to get from Seattle to Australia, short of finding someone who is willing to give you a free ticket! However, if you want to make the trip there are some things you can do to help make it a bit more affordable. May to October tend to be times when you can find a lower fare - keep an eye on the Qantas website (www.qantas.com) for special deals. Often they offer a deal called an "Aussie Air Pass" that allows you to fly roundtrip, but also have a few flights within the country, and the cost starts around $1099. Most flights to Australia are out of Los Angeles or San Francisco, so you would want to find a cheap flight to one of those gateways from Seattle.
