Default Someone told me that Austin is the gay capital of the Midwest and/or Texas. Is this true?

No way...I've lived in TX my whole life, and Austin is a hole. If you are looking for a gay capital in the Midwest look in the Midwest.

ADDITIONAL: TEXAS IS NOT IN THE MIDWEST...IT IS IN THE SOUTH

Austin is pretty Gay and Art-sy. I Like it. Try 6th street and surrounding areas. That is where I go sometimes if I'm there.

I'm not really sure if Austin is the "gay capital", but it is in a very liberal county, surrounded by quite conservative counties, so it makes sense that Austin has a much larger LGBT community than other places in Texas. People in Austin are quite accepting and friendly is another reason.
