Where are the best places to go on 6th street in Austin, Texas?

My sister and I are coming for her birthday, and we want to go out. I've been there once, but I don't really remember much about it... (It IS 6th street...) My sister has never been, so I want her to have a good time. Any suggestions would be great!

Well...in my honest and experienced opinion (almost ashamed to say that) - it doesn't matter.

If you don't like one club or bar...walk 10 feet and you're at another one. There are so many...it's crazy. Wear comfortable shoes unless you want bouncers to think you're drunk (they wont let you in if they think you're drunk - again, experience - I was limping a little).

I'd say my favorites are Treasure Island (nice bartenders there), Pure, Chunky Monkey... or Funky Monkey (I forget - it's "something" Monkey), and Vicci (on Colorado)...but really all we do is bar-hop.

I'd recommend getting a room at the Hilton or the Driskill downtown. That's usually what I do.

I don't go downtown nearly as often as I used to...gets old after a while, you know? Still, it's a fun place. Great for birthday parties!

Make sure you bring your valid IDs. Don't piss the cops off...I don't blame them for being grumpy at 2am in that crowd, but still...don't piss them off. *Adamantly shakes head*
