you need to check out both places with a licensed real estate professional who works in those areas because it depends on a number of different things on which will give you the biggest return and they will know it best. as for just an off hand look from the limit knowledge i have of those areas i would invest in Texas they have more going on there and that will help to drive up home values.

Have you analysed the housing markets in both places? How about the quality of the schools, amount of crime, and rate of unemployment? The only place I know of that still has a strong housing market is Richardson, TX, because they have some of the best schools in the nation.

IMO Albuquerque has too much crime for investment property to keep its value over time.

We are looking into buying and the housing market in Texas isnt feeling the affects of the rest of the country nearly as much.. Houston has a high high rating. Search some articles on google. In the past month south texas has ranked in the top 10 of places to live and buy homes...

Real Estate market in TEXAS has been able to hold it's value despite numerous housing market down cycles in the past. With the huge selection of forrclosed properties at deep discounts, TEXAS is the place to invest in rental properties.

Right now, we are looking at $130-150K homes, built 2000 or newer, going for $65-75K. The rental market is strong enough to support produce a monthly income after paying for the mortgage.
