is austin, texas a fun, nice place to live?

my family is considering moving. can someone please tell me what austin, texas is like for teenagers (15,16,17) to do there? is it fun? nightlife? people? restaurants?

i visited there and had a blast--its known as the live musical capital of the world--so as far as nightlife goes it is great..but i think you'll enjoy it more when you get of legal age as most of the shows i saw there were 18 or 21 and over only

There's lots of all-ages music options. Emo's, Red 7, most shows at the Mohawk, etc. It's a pretty nice city, and it's got a relatively young population (plus tons of college students), so there's lots of nightlife options, and lots of free stuff.

Austin is the most entertaining place in the world! Take it from a true Texan and Austinite. I have lived here for years and was also born here! My parents moved out of the country after i was born and decided to come right back to Austin since they missed it so much. I am a teen to so i know how it is when you cannot find something to do but Austin is certainly a very active city. The downtown area is full of things to do with the UT campus and 6th Street (Austin's Famous Party Street) and even Zilker Park which is a wonderful park perched in the Austin Center with year round activities such as some of the famous music festivals that are year round at the park during night. Austin is also the live music capital of the world so anyone with interest in Music or becoming a famous Singer has a good start here in Austin. I live in NorthWest Austin which is about 30 minutes from downtown but just 5 from the cities Lake Travis. There is also another Lake called Lake Austin that flows through downtown (Its more like a big river). Austin has 3 main Malls which are all very big (Lake line Mall (The mall closest to me and my favorite), Barton Creek Mall (West Austin), and Highland Mall (Central Austin). Austin is a wonderful place live so have fun! But do be prepared for the Heat!!! You will get used to it though! Have fun and good luck!!!!
