i went there for my birthday,instead of chuy's.but it was horrible service.we asked for refillls constantly and never came back,my friend asked for tortillas and they never brought them out.they ddint give the kids crayons or anything,one of the adults asked for more tea,so the waitor brings out the pitcher,and tellls HIM to pour it because hes dealing with everyone else.so he has poor it himself,then the waitor grabs the pitcher from him.then he asked for a straw out two straws ion there.took forever on our food.i could tell the waitor was either stressed or nervous he was sweating alot.

It really depends on which location you went to - did you go to the original east Austin location or the new south Austin location (near Circle C)?
I ask because I think the original is much better than the new one. Although the quality of food is basically the same, the new one is a bit overpriced and always seems to be overcrowded - it generally has more customers than the wait staff can accommodate which leads to poor service. However, the mariachi group that plays down south is great. I hope this helps. |

It sounds like you didn't like it very much. I remember thinking that it was only OK, but not nearly as bad as you describe. However, a lot of the things you are describing make it sound like a place with some real personality (not faked like Chuy's). E.g., if the place is busy, the waiter drops off a pitcher and has you pour. So what?
I prefer El Azteca, farther down East Seventh Street. But you probably won't like it if you don't like NL. If you like Chuy's (and don't get me wrong, I love the place), you'll also like Hula Hut. |
